Peak Organic Brewing Company's Pomegranate Wheat
The Peak Organic brews have been pretty popular for us lately, and we've been looking to expand the selection a bit. We reviewed the Peak Organic "Weiss Principal" a couple weeks ago, and now we're moving on to a more 'user-friendly' brew from their facility up in Maine.
The Pomegranate Wheat pours a light amber color, with a fair amount of light, fluffy, white foam. The foam subsides pretty quickly, with very little lacing left behind.
It's got a great nose to it though, light, fruity, yet not sweet, per se. You can smell the pomegranate, but it's not over-powering; there's just enough of the fruity aromas to let you know they're present.
The palate is even more enjoyable! It's smooth, easy drinking on the palate, yet still has a little big of body. It's easily got more body than your average "light" beer, but it's not a mouthful either. Again there's enough pomegranate that you can't ignore its presence, but it's seamless and well-balanced.
Is this my favorite of the fruit-influenced brews I've had? Not necessarily. But, I would recommend it, as I think it's a better-crafted brew than a variety of other fruit-beers I've had. I don't want to throw anyone under the bus, but you know who you are.
