Petrus Aged Pale

Today on "Sour Beer Week" I look at what is described as "an undiluted old beer, only to be exported to the US." Doesn't that make us feel special? This is not considered a Flemish Red or Oud Bruin, and it is not a gueuze, so let's just see how it is, shall we?

Petrus Aged Pale pours clear golden from the 11.2 oz bottle and has a substantial, fluffy white head. The aroma is sour with some subtle hops and hints of fruit. The taste is quite sour, but there is a touch of vanilla and sweetness underneath it all to redeem the beer, if you don't like sours.

Aged Pale is rather watery in the mouth but is also quite fizzy, so I guess it is something akin to soda. The finish on the Petrus Aged Pale is sour, without a doubt, but also fades to what is almost sweet.

Sadly, I do not remember the cost, but Petrus is a fairly common brand out of Belgium. If you can't find it, I will be surprised.
