Chimay - Cinq Cents (Ivory label)

It's Friday night and I'm looking for something to drink that I haven't had in a while. Chimay is always near the top of my list, so let's see what's cold tonight.

Chimay Cinq Cents, the white or ivory label is the lightest of the Chimay's big three. The Chimay is a lineup of Trappist Ales from the Scourmont Abbey, Belgium.

The Cinq Cents pours a hazy, pale-orange color. The foam is thick and strong, just slightly off-white in color. The foam leaves a really nice and strong lacing as it slowly fades.

The nose is softly citrusy, with a little bit of malty sweetness and a little bit of spice too. On the palate it's pretty smooth, despite quite a bit of body. The abv is barely noticeable even though its a bit above standars at 8% abv.

Some nice malty sweetness balances the soft and smooth hops. I already knew I liked this beer going into tonight. But, I'm happy to be drinking it again. It's got plenty of body, but it is super drinkable.
