Cisco Brewers - Grey Lady Ale

A description that I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around, the Grey Lady Ale is described as "wheat beer...fermented with Belgian yeast and brewed with fresh fruit and spices...that emits a complex, earthy nose and a soft, mid-palate maltiness with hints of tropical fruit."

Really?  This is supposed to be a wheat beer?  I thought all wheat beers were cloudy, and a bit on the sweet side?  The Grey Lady pours out a clear golden color, with a fluffy, tight, white head. For a twelve ounce bottle, there is plenty of carbonation in this New England brew.

The nose reveals hints of orange peel, and some mild spice. It's not the super sweet nose that I'd expect from a Belgian wheat beer. Following true on the palate, the Grey Lady is only softly sweet, with plenty of complexity. The spice is distinctly present, yet only subtly in the background.

The Grey Lady Ale from Cisco Brewers in Nantucket, not the most complex beer I've had in the past few weeks, but not awful either. It's very drinkable, flavorful, and all-in-all, a pretty good beer.
