Flying Dog Brewery - Dogtoberfest

Pours out darker than expected, a nice brown-amber in color. Foam is thick at first, but falls rapidly, in a light, off-white color.

The Dogtoberfest smells of a little more full-bodied than the usual Octoberfest beers. I think I'm getting mostly malts, with a little hops and smokiness too. This one has also got something else there, that I can't quite put my finger on. The bottle says some caramel is involved, but it doesn't smell quite that sweet to me. Maybe some roasted nuts, or some kind of citrus? Can't quite place it.

Nice medium body going down, well balanced, and fairly tasty. A little bit of dry, hop-bitterness, but a nice finishing malty-sweetness too.
